How user interface design works

Deeply embedded within our UX design process, our UI design service involves creating the colour scheme, visual hierarchy and other design elements that guide users through their interactions.

Our cross-functional team works together to create and implement visually appealing products that align with your branding to capture your client’s attention and encourage them to take action on your website.

Our UI Design Process

1

Discovery and create

‘Discovery’ and ‘Create’ are phases within our UX design process.

Our team develops a thorough understanding of your overall business goals and the problem to be solved. We conduct research to understand more about your ideal target audience. We then create solution concepts, user journey mapping tools, interactive wireframes and do two rounds of usability testing, whilst also obtaining your feedback throughout the process.

Learn more about each step in our UX design page.

2

Aesthetic design

Design the finalised solution in high fidelity by creating design systems. We share our designs with you for feedback before we hand it over to the development team.

FAQs

1

What is UI design?

User interface design (UI) is the process of communicating your brand’s values and visual identity through digital interfaces while delivering enhanced user experiences. UI design is responsible for the look and feel of an application, its interactivity in response to user input, and visual cues that guide users through their experience.

2

What is the difference between UX and UI design?

User experience or UX design focuses on identifying user behaviours, mapping user journeys, and translating findings into wireframes and concepts. It enhances the user’s experience when interacting with a brand.

User interface design focuses on the look and feel of a user interface, and how it guides, interacts, and responds to user input. Both UX and UI go hand in hand when creating digital products. Conducting UX research and design prior to UI design, enables the creation of  exceptional experiences.

3

Why is UI design important?

A User interface is the look and feel of a product, and is important in facilitating strong interaction and connection between users and your website. This is done through clean and engaging, responsive design. A good user interface design seamlessly combines visual design, information architecture, and interaction design.

4

Do outsource your design or is it done locally?

All of our website design, interface design and application design is done here in Australia. Your solution is worked on by our local experience designers based in Sydney, Melbourne and the Sunshine Coast. No part of your project is developed offshore.

5

Do you offer UI design as a standalone service?

No, we don’t. Our UI and UX services are deeply embedded within each other.
Our Discovery and Create steps are part of UX design, and our Aesthetic design step is part of UI design. We find combining the two areas together within the same design process enables greater user experiences and a more cohesive product.

6

How does UI impact SEO?

Having an optimised content hierarchy, clear navigation structure and responsive, mobile friendly UI can positively impact SEO by improving engagement, reducing bounce rates and making it easier for search engines to crawl and index your website.

Our specialists have the best SEO practices in mind when developing your UI solution to ensure your final product is search engine friendly.

7

How much does it cost?

The cost depends on how complex your overall design project is. New projects start from as little as $20,000 and can range to $500,000+ for larger projects.
