Introducing 4mation’s head of UX: Ben De Mot
With real passion for user experience and many years working in this area, we’re delighted to welcome Ben to the 4mation team. Get to know Ben, learn more about what inspires him, and find out about what brought him to 4mation.
What was it that attracted you to 4mation?
4mation has been around for almost 2 decades and it is a recognised company when it comes to building great products and solutions. I saw an amazing opportunity to bring my enthusiasm and knowledge around all things UX into 4mation and deliver amazing user experience design for 4mation’s clients.
What has been the highlight of your time here at 4mation so far?
Discovering how great the team is! I’ve rarely seen such a great company culture. People are motivated, friendly and they all want to deliver great work for our clients. Everyone here at 4mation is very “human”, they don’t blindly follow processes, they use common sense and design thinking to solve problems, and make complicated things simple. That is inspiring!
Who or what do you draw inspiration from?
It might sound weird, but I love to watch people perform their daily tasks. I am always trying to figure out if they could do them better and more efficiently. So basically inspiration comes from everywhere, all the time. When it comes to pure creativity, I really like Bauhaus style. It is pure, simple and elegant.
Also I’m listening to podcasts and I find that even non design related shows can give a lot of ideas. 99% Invisible is quite great!
If you had a superpower, what would it be?
Reading people’s minds, so I can make them happy and help solve their problems.
What is your favourite quote?
Make it simple, but significant.
What is your favourite book?
I recently read ‘The making of a manager’ by Julie Zhuo and enjoyed it a lot. I feel like it’s a must read for managers who wants to do their job the right way.
Fun fact(s) about you
I’ve been into 6 different countries in less than 12 hours!
